After hearing about the tornado damage in Joplin, MO, this morning, I phoned the church office and talked with Robin Mitchell, Bro. John Mitchell’s wife. The church building and the congregation are fine (the storm passed to the north of their location); at the time, a couple of members were unaccounted for, and I later heard that a couple of members lost homes. Other than that, they are fine, praise God! There is a possibility that the church might be used for shelter for those affected by the storm. Either way, please keep the city of Joplin in prayers!

CHANGE IN MISSION TARGET FOR 2011: SYLVANIA, AL
The Carpenters for Christ of East Alabama will be heading back to Mountain View Baptist Church in Sylvania, AL. The mission will take place from May 30, 2011 thru June 8, 2011. We were there in 2004 and helped them build a new sanctuary. The tornado storms that tore through north Alabama a couple of weeks ago have blown the church building away. Not down…AWAY. The congregation is worshipping in the parking lot. Michael George got in touch with Emory Combs and told him the news. As of our meeting today in Valley, the Carpenters are heading back to Sylvania; if ever there was a need, this congregation desperately needs us. Mike Hudmon had been in touch with the pastor in Conyers, and after prayer, he gave his blessing for us to go; he told Mike that the greater need was in Sylvania! If you can go in any way, please contact Weymon Moore or Don Wall as soon as possible! God bless!
