Below are a couple of “before” and “after” shots after 5 short days here in Red Level, AL. Keep us in prayer as we go about God’s work!
After prayer and discussion, we will be going to Red Level, AL (near Andalusia) to help Buck Creek Baptist Church with the inside of their new building. They will already have a 2-story metal frame, up and roofed by the time we get there. We will have a TON of inside framing to do in this building, so please make your plans to attend. We’ll need every man we can get!
The church is landlocked in their current location, and this building is on 7 acres that a church member donated to the church. Their pastor is Bro. Tyler Ingram. We’ll be staying at the nearby high school.
Advance team will leave and arrive on Monday, June 4. Full crew needs to arrive on Wednesday, June 6. Mission will end on Saturday June 16.
Also, an important note: For those of you who will be needing to apply for a scholarship, you MUST apply for it with the CFC board BEFORE the mission trip. Please don’t wait until you arrive at the mission; there are only a limited number of scholarships. We would never let cost get in the way of anyone wanting to go and serve on this mission, but we need to know before the trip. Please contact any member of the CFC board to apply. Thanks!
Recent email from our whistleblower, Don Wall:
Our mission to Kentucky has been canceled. The church in Kentucky is going to wait. Therefore we will be looking for a new mission for next year. Please pray that God’s mission for us will make itself known in time. If any of you hear of a possible trip please let me know.
Message from Don Wall:
The build at Shiloh went well. However we did not get the building quite dried in which was our goal. Emory would like to do some work on Tuesday and Wednesday to get the building ready for the decking on the front side of the building. If you can help with this please show up at 7:00 central time.
On Thursday there will be men needed to finish the roof. It is a metal roof so if you come, bring gloves.
Please let me or Emory know if you can help. Thanks
The project at Shiloh is scheduled to start on October 20 and 21. Emory Combs wants to know how many will be there on Friday and Saturday since the Church is preparing lunch. If you know anyone that does not have E-MAIL and would like to help with this project please let them know and if they can help let me or Emory know.
The Slab has been poured and they are in the process of getting material for the build.
Remember we need a head count for lunch.
Shiloh is located at the intersection of CR53 and CR 121 in Western Chambers County, AL
Carpenters, God used us in a mighty way this year, despite the devil’s intentions to sidetrack us. The building looks great (pictures to be on the website later). Hope everyone got home safely and had a chance to rest.
The next event is our end of year banquet:
Date: Saturday, August 5, 2017
Family Life Center
Langdale United Methodist Church
6301 20th Avenue
Valley, AL 36854
(Same location as last year’s banquet)
Time: 6:00pm CDT/ 7:00pm EDT
Each Carpenter (or Sponsor) plus one guest is included in the cost of the trip.
For each additional guest attending the banquet, there will be a $10.00 charge.
Shirts, caps, etc., will be on sale at the banquet, as well as any DVDs that you ordered (don’t worry, there are extras in case you forgot to order.)
See you then!
A few quick updates:
– By now, you should’ve received your mission info book and registration info from Don Wall. If not, please contact him ASAP.
– Due to unforeseen booking issue, we will NOT be staying at the middle school as detailed in the info booklet. We will be staying in the air-conditioned cafeteria of the school located next to the job site. Report to the job site, and you’ll be directed from there.
– There was a typo on the address of the job site. The correct address is: 25461 Hwy 195, Double Springs, AL 35553. Don Smith is the DOM and his contact number is 205-627-1185.
– Two churches have asked us to give testimonies on Sunday of the mission (morning and evening). Instead of the usual Carpenters service, we’ll be participating in their respective services. Please pray about giving a testimony.
Thanks; be safe on the road, and we’ll see you in Double Springs!
Update below from Don Wall, our whistleblower:
As you may know, the mission we had planned in Kentucky was canceled for this year. BUT good news, we now have a mission in Double Springs, AL (for the Winston County Baptist Association). We will be building a 60’ by 100’ association building. More details later.
Please make your plans for the trip beginning on 5-29-2017 advance crew 5-31-2017 main crew. This mission will end on 6-10-2017.
The aforementioned mission to Kentucky has had a change in plans; currently, we will not be going to that church this year. Please be in prayer for the board as we are seeking God’s will and networking contacts to see where we will be going this year. We have one possibility at the moment; stay tuned!
We have plans to go to Kentucky on our next mission. Details are still being worked out. Please make your plans to go with us. If nothing changes we will leave on Wednesday May 31, 2017. With the exception of the advance crew, who will leave on Monday May 29, 2017. Additional info later.
